Red Eyed Sky Walkers is a site specific participatory installation and public intervention project created for the Shift Festival. The public space around the Theater Square (Theaterplatz) in the inner city of Basel will be under the aerial watch of 99 floating "Red Eyed Sky Walkers", big red balloons, some of them with attached wireless video cameras. They capture live aerial images and stream them to the festival exhibition in real time. The installation inverses the usual surveillance setup: The audience on Theater Square will direct balloons and cameras and engage in a series of DI Y interventionist missions. The "analysis" of these images takes place publicly in the exhibition space.
