Taiwan Video Club focuses on a community of Taiwanese people resident in the USA, who exchange amongst themselves video recordings of TV programmes from their home country such as adaptations of literary classics and folkloristic Taiwanese operas. Stories that were once passed on orally are now passed from one VCR to the next. The cassette network was also a precursor of today’s internet file sharing, which facilitate global access to cultural products and are also the source of constant controversy regarding copyright issues.
