Fernando Corona (Tijuana) created the Murcof project in 2001 with the declared aim of experimenting with classical and electronic music. He juxtaposes digital audio precision and the warmth of acoustic instruments and comes up with never before heard soundscapes. Corona describes his work-style as “an expansion of the potential of acoustic instruments by digital means”. His debut album, Martes (The Leaf Label) brought Murcof international attention in 2002. His long awaited new album, Cosmos (The Leaf Label) was released in September 2007. XX + XY Visuals, a VJ duo from Rome, work closely with Corona and cleverly use their digital imagery to expand his Cosmos.
