New proposals on the Swiss state's cultural responsibilities foresee major cuts, among other things also in Media Arts funding. The requisite public hearing on new legislation allows for feedback on the proposals until 24 November. Today, funding bodies, politicians and media arts professionals will have their say. Discussion will focus in particular on how artists and activists on the media arts scene can contribute most effectively to the debate.

monochrom-Gala

Sat 18.00 h
Lounge
Language: English

"monochrom is a mix of marginal proto-aesthetic activities, Pop attitude, sub-cultural science and political activism. monochrom's mission, passion and quasi-ontological talent is first and foremost to collect, integrate, register and interrogate (liberate?) scar tissue such as everyday cultural artefacts present.

This mission is carried out everywhere, yet primarily at cultural-archaeological digs into the seats (and pockets) of ideology and entertainment.  monochrom's transmedial medley is conceived as an entertaining 'tour de farceʼ, intended to rivet the attention of Shift's audience: a bucket of cheer, brimming over with some good old pure fanaticism, crisis, language, culture, smug complacency, identity, utopia, mania and hopelessness, brought together for your pleasure by means of tried and tested gala show technology. Powernapping extremely welcome."
